What an amazing God we serve! In September, we attended the Peacemaker Ministries training and Annual Conference in Minneapolis. The first two days I (Bonnie) sat at a table with a woman from the former Yugoslavia, in a different region than Croatia. We started talking about Yugoslavia. Here is what she had to say, “(The people in our region), we are proud—proud of our history and independence. (Other people in another region), they are arrogant. They want to be seen as ‘somebody’. (In the Balkans) there is a culture of unforgiveness. Forgiveness must start in the church. It will take a long time. Over there it is not easy to even forgive little things let alone that it might be that your brother killed my brother and my brother raped your sister. That is not easy to forgive.” She and her husband, who are now living in Minnesota, are taking the Peacemaker material to their former Yugoslavian church this November.

Summer at camp “Why are you going to Croatia? Isn’t that in Europe?”
Christianity arrived in Europe during the first century when Paul preached the gospel in such places as Macedonia and Italy. Today many Europeans consider God dead or powerless, and church irrelevant. Europe is now considered a secular, post-modern continent. In fifteen European countries including Croatia, less than 1% of the population has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ (Evangelical Missions Quarterly).
According to Greater Europe Mission, “Europe is an economic, political, and ideological powerhouse. In measuring Christian growth over the last century, Europe’s rate was the lowest in the world. European nations dominate the top ten in a category called ‘Least responsive megapeoples.’ They are the toughest people on earth to reach with the gospel.”

SEND International - Croatia assists Scripture Union Croatia, a national run organization, in developing a year-round camping ministry. Our desire and the desire of the camp ministry is to expose children, young people, and families to a biblical world-view and to the message of the gospel, and provide a place where they can spend time away from daily life in order to hear and obey the truth of God’s word.

Update: Our departure date was slid back to January of 2007. As a result we are now living in Cambridge and working full time on raising support to be ready to go to Croatia in January.
Our projected date is Sept. 2, 2006. However, this date could change. We cannot leave unless all of our requirements have been met. Those requirements are:
- Required Reading.
- 30 Committed Prayer Partners.
- 100% Financial Support.
- Required Training.
At the moment, we have our prayer partners and are working to complete the remaining tasks. Perhaps the Lord is leading you to consider partnering with us financially. If so, click the contact us tab and we will arrange a time to tell you about the ministry in Croatia so you can make an informed decision regarding our support.
It is unconfirmed at this point in time, but rumor has it that if our support level is not 100% and we were to leave for Croatia, that the plane would somehow crash into the ocean at the exact mile equal to the percent of support we had raised. As a result, we are unwilling to leave until we are at 100%!
